2025 Field Courses in the Northwoods of Minnesota – Itasca Biological Station and Laboratories

Come take a field course at one of the oldest continually operating field stations in the country! 

 

Itasca Biological Station and Laboratories has been offering field courses since 1909, in the heart of iconic Itasca State Park at the Headwaters of the Mississippi River. Itasca offers two field course programs: one for undergraduate and graduate students (for-credit courses) and another that is open to life-long learners.

Field Biology Program (undergraduate and graduate level courses):

  • Field Microbiology (PMB 3802/5802) | May 18 – June 7 | 3 credits

  • Field Mycology (PMB 3812/5812) | May 18 – June 7 | 3 credits

  • Field Ornithology (EEB 4844) | May 18 – June 7 | 3 credits

  • Field Entomology (BIOL 3800) | May 12 – June 7 | 3 credits

  • Field Studies in Mammalogy (EEB 4839) | May 18 – June 21 | 4 credits

  • Animal Behavior in the Field (EEB 3811W) | May 18 – June 21 | 4 credits
