The lifetime Membership category was launched by the first member, Eric Nagy, PhD a longtime OBFS board member and the Associate Director of the Mountain Lake Biological Station. Eric has served in the following capacities on the OBFS board: President / Past-President / Vice President / Finance Committee / Governance Committee, Chair / Preventing Sexual Misconduct Working Group, Chair / Nominations Committee, Chair / Auction Committee, Chair / Annual Meeting Host / MLBS Member Station Representative. The Lifetime Membership category was drafted and approved by the OBFS Development Committee on 11 May 2023 and reviewed and approved by the OBFS Board on 30 May 2023.
OBFS offers a Lifetime Membership for individuals that pay a $1000.00 fee. That amount can be made in one payment or a series of 10 consecutive monthly $100 payments. All funds received by OBFS for Individual Lifetime Memberships will be deposited to and invested in an OBFS endowed account. Your donation is tax deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law.
OBFS Individual Lifetime Members will continue to receive all the benefits of membership with no additional membership payment. In addition, they will be recognized on our OBFS web site and on our OBFS annual meeting program, unless individual lifetime members prefer to remain anonymous.
As of December 31st 2023 these people are OBFS Lifetime Members: Eric Nagy, Philippe Cohen, Sylvia Torti, and Shane Waddell. Official “Friends of OBFS” also qualify for Lifetime Membership and they include: Peter Connors, Miles O’Brien, Mark Ruffalo, and Peter McCartney.
