Where Research, Learning, and Service Come Together
At Susquehanna, we are committed to sustainability and there is no greater testament to that commitment than our Center for Environmental Education and Research (CEER) — our campus-adjacent field station.
The 87-acre CEER is home to our Freshwater Research Institute, beaver dam analogs, ecology research plots, riparian buffer restoration site, native research garden and greenhouse, solar array, and beehives.
At the CEER, students can:
- Intern or conduct research on watershed health at the Freshwater Research Institute, the Chesapeake Conservancy, or with one of our many partner organizations.
- Participate in long-term research on restoration methods that translate into policy and conservation practice.
- Lead horticultural research in native ethnobotanical species to determine economic viability and restoration demand.
- Develop interdisciplinary projects to connect to creative writing and literature.
- Participate in outdoor labs during your ecology or environmental science course.
Susquehanna and the CEER are walking distance from the Susquehanna River — the Chesapeake Bay’s largest tributary and the longest river on the east coast.
