Works under the direct supervision of the Stone Lab Manager to assist in preparation of seasonal programming at Stone Laboratory; assists in operation of Stone Laboratory Fieldtrip program and operation of Aquatic Visitor Center; assists in preparation and maintenance of facilities for utilization by visitors, faculty, researchers and students; provides assistance to administrative and laboratory staff as needed; conducts inventory of supplies and equipment; maintains and repairs scientific equipment and occasionally assists with field research; leads scientific classroom activities for grades 5-12 school groups; leads tours, science cruises and activities for visiting groups; provides information about fieldtrip program; assists in construction and storage of educational displays; conducts orientation sessions for visiting groups; assists in seasonal set-up and close-down procedures for the laboratory; performs special assignments as needed; position is a temporary appointment that will last spring to fall (flexible beginning and end dates based on availability); position located at Put-in-Bay, Ohio.
Minimum Education Required
High School graduate or Associate Degree required. 0-1 years of relevant experience required. 0-2 years of relevant experience preferred.
Required Qualifications
0-1 years of relevant experience; demonstrated ability in the conduct of routine field work; ability to work with a diverse population and as a team; valid driver’s license; successful completion of a background check. Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings, and some holidays.
Desired Qualifications
Ability to lift 30 lbs. desired.
The pay for this temporary full time position is $13.20.
