Duration: 3-month trial period, subsequently a renewable annual contract
Time commitment: 20-80 hours/month, will vary based on issues and requests
Salary: $45/hour, not to exceed $20,000 per year
The Organization of Biological Field Stations (OBFS) is a member-driven all volunteer non-profit based in the U.S. OBFS is dedicated to supporting field stations in their efforts to promote environmental research, education, and public understanding of science around the world. We are looking to hire an enthusiastic, self-driven Website Coordinator who can help us maintain and grow our new WordPress website and non-profit Google Suite account. The Website Coordinator will work directly under the OBFS Network Coordinator and may be asked to attend board meetings occasionally to report on the website. Weekly status reports will be expected.
Desired skills include:
- Deep knowledge of WordPress, the Pantheon Host platform, and plugin maintenance
- Ongoing plugin monitoring needed to make sure we are using the best language/translation app, calendar app, etc.
- Familiarity with Plugins such as: Pods, WP User Frontend, FacetWp, events calendar, MemberPress, Ninja Forms, Google Analytics for WordPress by MonsterInsights, Give – Donation Plugin
- Archiving of expired posts and events
- Familiarity with PayPal integration
- Ability to maintain and address a tiered list of website issues (fixes, enhancements)
- Knowledge of Google Suites for non-profits (help us maintain emails and documents)
- Ability to provide Customer Relationship Monitoring
- The ideal candidate will be comfortable answering user questions patiently and in a timely manner (within 48 hours) on how to register and upload field station profiles, posts, events, and job ads, and on how to use the discussion board.
- Candidate should enjoy working with membership (our customers)
- Provide tutorials and online tools (e.g., FAQs) for new features and frequent requests.
- Ability to maintain user profiles- eliminate bots or malware attacks; report out on malfunctions and research fixes
- Ability to communicate with members via the listserv on new features and downtime/website outages
- Ability to create new forms and meeting registration for yearly annual meetings
- Ability to sort out and address dues payments with Treasurer
- An understanding of place-based science, field stations and marine labs, as well as a love and appreciation of biodiversity and conservation a plus!
