Operating a field station for research and education presents many challenges. The Organization of Biological Field Stations (OBFS) exists to help stations meet these challenges! Be a part of our mission.

OBFS is busy at work on issues that affect your field station, including developing relationships with funding agencies, cooperating in research networks, and sharing information with international and governmental agencies. We provide practical solutions and an international network of field station experts to help you address the myriad of obstacles that appear when running a remote facility. Stay involved with us to help shape the future of field science in your community.

Benefits of Membership

OBFS is a member-driven organizations that revolves around supporting field stations and marine labs in their everyday pursuit of excellence in education, outreach, and research. Please take advantage of our Discussion Board and Listserv to ask questions of other field station directors. We post documents here and throughout the site on how to build, manage, and grow field stations and marine labs.

Members can join any committee and they are encouraged to join the Development Committee if they wish to learn about ways to increase resources and funding. The International Committee has a variety of programs designed to benefit members.
